Local history

On BBC Radio 4 this morning the programme 'In Our Time' was about "The Levellers". It included a section on "The Putney Debates".

Yes; I agree, it's an interesting programme and Mischa Glennie seems to have stepped into tge role very well.

Thanks for the tip on this - there is rarely a bad episode of In Our Time and this wasn't one of them. Mischa Glennie is also proving to be a really good host.

It was an interesting programmee and one of the contributors was a history professor at Roehampton

The Putney debates and the radical ideas that came out of them remain foundational to our constitution. The display in St Mary's about The Putney debates including recorded interviews with different commentators is worthy of examination if you are in the area.
