Clarke shoes

Putney high street only shoe shop due to close now. Even I found their shoes a bit boring. Loved Ravel. Have to walk down.the High Street barefoot.

I think it was there a lot longer than 18 years. Probably nearer 50.

I purchased a pair of Clarke shoes in1966, when immigrating to Australia, still got them, still wear them.

So much better being able to try shoes on.  Often the ones you like best aren't the ones that fit best.

If  memory  serves  the  shop  was  there  in  the  High  Street  in  the  late  1950s  if  not  before. If  I'm  correct  it  would  make  it  the  oldest  shop  on  the  High  St.

Also K Shoes a similar to Clarkes Shoes, past where Tesco is,thats been gone a long time now.

I read Clarks had a profitable year, but are still closing some stores.  It is the best place for school shoes.  I just wish they made nicer shoes for the older age group. Since Ecco closed its shop in Wimbledon, I go to Kensington High Street where I usually can get what I want in Ecco and Geox which are next to each other, opposite the tube station.
