Banner in PHS Today - Putney Exchange.

From what I could make out stood in Montserrat Rd, PETA were trying to hang a banner from the roof above HM.  It was asking people not to buy wool as it is cruel to sheep. The banner wasn’t there when I came out of Sainsburys about 15 minutes later.

I generally support PETA but it is misguided over this issue because it is actually cruel not to shear *domestic sheep.  Wild sheep are a different matter.*sheep bred for wool production I would much rather PETA hang their banners in revulsion of halal killings🤬

It is not cruel to sheer wool from sheep.

Lucille Grant ● 1d

Yes, I always understood that it was cruel not to shear sheep.

It on front page of the forum now.

Shouldn't you, for the sake of consistency, take the same attitude to Kosher slaughter? I don't particularly like either, as it happens.

@RichardI think both methods are disgusting.

It’s not to do with shearing it’s how the animals are treated kicked punched etc not sure Putney branch of H&M is the most obvious place for a protest much larger stores with more customers in west end but it did get noticed

See Welfare Standards: In places like the UK, annual shearing remains a part of standard animal husbandry guidelines. They are overseen by organisations such as British Wool to ensure thermal comfort and health

My own experience , my father in law was a shepherd, is that you have to be atrong to turn a sheep ready for shearing but kicking and punching is certainly not the norm.
