Too many multiples

The "reaching out" debate having run its course, I propose another no-no. It is the use (and over-use) of the word "multiple", as in "multiple times" or "multiple murders". What happened to good old "many"? Multiple's proper meaning is "having or involving several parts, elements, or members". Many means "a large number of something countable". Multiple tends to be used by linguistic Flash Harrys. Many has its origins in Anglo-Saxon and is to be preferred.

In a series of posts, Mr Ryan also makes cruel remarks about a local Labour leader and life-long lollipop man in Greater Manchester called Colin Bailey'.What is revealing if you look at their CVs is that both MPs have never had a proper job in the real world.They have spent all of their time in and earned all of their income from Local and National Labour Party politics. Their comments give lie to the claim that Labour exists to promote the welfare of persecuted minorities and the vulnerable.I do hope that Putney's Labour MP has confronted these men and supports Kier Starmer in condemning them.

How many Forum members listen to Today on BBC? If you do, do you agree with me that the voices of some newly installed  presenters lack authority? As a reporter from Brussels Katia Adler (eg) sounded just fine. Now, in the chair in London, she lacks gravitas. Her voice sounds thin and reedy. Do the Beeb's cloth-eared managers notice? Do they care?

Queueing to cross Hammersmith Bridge

I walked past the bridge earlier today and thought there must have been some sort of rowing event on. Then later I saw this post on Twitter. Apparently there is a gas leak and the bridge is down to single file. We’re reached the point where we now have pedestrian traffic jams to go with the car traffic jams in Putney. However Dalton is very supportive of trans rights ...Not surprised ...New health minister Ashley Dalton said there should be NO women-only toilets and people should be able to identify as LLAMAS
The new health minister previously called for an end to same-sex toilets, suggested females can have penises, and backed people identifying as llamas, it was revealed today.
Keir Starmer has promoted Ashley Dalton after sacking Andrew Gwynne from the key role over his posts in a vile WhatsApp group.
However, the PM immediately faced questions over Ms Dalton's views, as it emerged she had defended people identifying as animals and argued for all bathrooms to be gender neutral.
During a discussion on Twitter in 2016 Ms Dalton - who was elected as MP for West Lancashire in 2023 - insisted: 'Trans women aren't male. They're women.'

The state of Israeli captives 'released' by Palestinian terrorists

Pussy Cats

On the News this morning a young lady saying cats shouldn't be kept as pets. Scotland doesn't agree with it, I think it's stupid. I used to talk to mine, I used to tell it little stories and she would look at me the whole time. A lot of people love their cats. What a stupid idea.
